Sampler Pack - Howler, Three Bears & Lil'Red

I'll start off by saying I do plan to purchase again, very possibly make them my go-to for coffee.

I'll also say coffee is somewhat of a passion so I might be particularly harder on the brand than the average joe (pun in tended).

I'll start with the good: Coffee seemed to be roasted fresh! I love this because MOST brands decaf is an afterthought, and they sell much less compared to a brand that focuses on it. So having freshly roasted coffee that is also decaf is oddly rare.

The tase is good, grind and extraction seems to be consistent from cup to cup.

Now for the less than good..

The roast levels on the bag don't seem to match the actual beans within the bag. The beans look friarly oily and well around the second crack phase but the bag says 3/5 stars roast level. To me this is clearly a 4 or even 5. So there's a fair amount of disconnect between what was ordered and what arrived. I shifted the way I was planning on preparing the coffee to accommodate a darker roast .

More annoyingly in a different bag there was a wide range of roast levels. Some beans were under roaster showing a light pale brown while in the same bag dark oily beans that were over roasted. This is slightly harder to forgive as it makes getting consistent flavor more difficult.ALSMOT sorted them by color and re-packaged into smaller bags but decided not to.

All in all, happy with the focus on decaf, decent to good flavors, excellent when it came to freshness but lacked consistency throughout bag to bag.

I'll for sure be ordering more and again, i'm probably pickier than the average person so hopefully I don't scare anyone off from purchasing. Of other coffee brands, i'd say Big Bad Decaf ranks in my top 3. If the above can get fixed they would easily take the 1st slot.

It took a while to get here but my husband and I love all three products. So smooth and clean, not bitter or tasteless. Some of the best decaf we’ve tasted.

Great coffee; each one is distinct and full of flavor, not just the usual medium bland decaf we have all gotten used to!

Glad you provide a sampler pack. My wife did not like the Howler (too dark and earthy for her), but we both like the 3 Bears.
